About our company

Best Practice Medical was set up with one prime objective, to provide unqualified and superior service to doctors and health care facilities. Unlike general recruitment agencies, we know the medical world inside and out. That’s because all our staff, in addition to being qualified in human resources, have worked in the health industry and are committed to absolute best practice. It comes right down from the top. Our director is in fact a practising doctor. So unlike some agencies, we speak the same language as you. We know exactly what you need and who you need.

At Best Practice Medical, we place doctors in a wide variety of locum positions Australia-wide. We can help you find both short and long-term locum work, negotiate rates and handle the frustrating invoicing so that you can get on with what you do best – being a doctor. Our commitment to the medical profession is not bound by age. We represent and can place young doctors and those with a lifetime of experience. We’ll look after you whether you are a registrar, RMO, specialist or GP just so long as you have full unconditional registration with the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

How we help you

We’ve worked hard to make everything for you as easy as possible. Our exceptional staff will have a full discussion with you to work out what you need, and how we can best help achieve it, quickly and easily. We can provide you with the chance to work in a wide range of private and public hospitals, clinics and local practices throughout the country. We source the best available positions and can help you get there, whether you’re looking for ongoing or ad hoc locum work. We also handle all the nitty gritty such as negotiating rates on your behalf and doing the invoicing once you’ve started work.

Many doctors on our books find the flexibility is one of the great advantages. We’ll help you get to work, but you aren’t tied down by duration. Choose to do as many or as few shifts as you like. If you’re looking to take a break or head on holiday, you also have that option, knowing work will be here when you return. And one of our best assets is our availability. Once registered, you can log on to search for shifts whenever you want to, wherever you are, 24/7.

For clinics, general practices and hospitals, we listen to exactly who and what you want, then provide a shortlist of experienced, qualified doctors who best fit your needs. We screen all applicants and handle wage negotiation directly with you to keep it as simple as possible. And we’ll have staff on hand to help at any given time. In fact, we’re so committed to best practice that we’re on hand 24/7. Yes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because we understand that the medical world is always working.

Anything we don’t do?

While we are great at servicing doctors, clinics and hospitals, we’re not an insurance agency. So in order to sign up and work as a locum, you will need to have your own medical indemnity insurance in place. Speak to your insurance provider and they should be able to help you with anything you need to know and organise your policy.
